Position as a Certifying Officer at the African Union Commission in Midrand, South Africa.

African Union Commission Provide technical assistance and guidance in the management of financial services and the APRM, such as budgeting, reporting, and analysis.

Principal Functions

  • The Division provides technical help to programs designed in accordance with its strategic plan.
  • On pertinent issues, liaises with APRM Member States and AU Policy Institutions.
  • The Division assists in the production and development of associated reports, budgets, and work programs.
  • The Division’s actions are publicized through creating pamphlets, guidelines, and fact sheets.
  • Employees under his/her management are supervised in terms of organization and performance evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Before making payments, ensure that they are legal, lawful, correct, and complete.
  • Assisting in the identification, assessment, and monitoring of risks, as well as the implementation of essential controls to keep risk exposure to an acceptable level.
  • Putting in place controls to prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement, utilizing policy guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Check the accuracy and completeness of all financial reports for all stakeholders.

Requirements and relevant experience are essential for successful recruitment

  • It is preferable to have a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Auditing, Accounting, or Commerce, as well as 5 years of progressive job experience in auditing, budgeting, accounting, and financial management. A professional accounting certification such as CIA, CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent from a recognized institution is advantageous. Working experience in a certification, audit, or inspection function within public sector institutions or comparable organizations is preferred.
